OPEN DOORS LEARNING CENTER is a small, independent school. The early years of education build the foundation for future years of learning. We believe it is essential for children to be empowered during these early years and have a positive, educational experience. During these building block years children are often attuned to their feelings and inner knowledge. We tap into these sources and allow the learning process to flow. We are an inclusion based school, welcoming children with alternative learning styles, right brain dominance and different abilities.

We use an Expeditionary learning approach. Throughout the year the students will be studying particular units. All aspects of learning will be incorporated into these thematic units…math, language, science, social studies, reading, writing, and the arts. Children become more involved in the learning process when it holds meaning to them. We accomplish this by choosing units that spark interest among the students. Mixed age grouping provides a sense of community and cooperative learning. We work with children independently and collectively honoring each child's individual needs and processes. Together as a team, we learn from each other and the world that touches each of us.
