RMT
Level One
Primitive Reflexes and ADD/ADHD
Friday & Saturday, March 26 - 27, 2010 8:30am - 4:45pm
In this 2-day course, participants learn the basics of RMT: how
movements can be used to assist in regulating muscle tone and
stimulating the connections between parts of the brain, especially
as they relate to impulse control and attention. Some topics included
in this course...
" The Triune Brain and Development
" Development and Primitive Reflexes
" RMT Active and Passive Movements
" Identifying Developmental Imbalances
There is no prerequisite for this workshop
RMT
Level Two
Emotions and Inner Healing
Sunday, March 28, 2010 8:30am - 4:30pm
This 1-day course addresses how RMT affects our emotions and how
to work with movements to get in touch with them; then techniques
are introduced to learn how to stabilize
the emotions when needed.
Some topics included in this course...
" Emotional Development, Moro Reflex and RMT
" Motor Function and the Limbic System
" Muscle Tension and Repressed Feelings
" Frontal Lobes, the Limbic System and RMT
" Autism and RMT
Prerequisite - Level One RMT Workshop
What
is Rhythmic Movement Training?
Rhythmic Movement Training (RMT) is a practice dedicated to bring
integration and balance to children and adults with specific learning
obstacles (including ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia), co-ordination
difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorders and Parkinson's disease.
In addition, it can benefit those with mild to severe emotional
and behavioral challenges, anxiety and panic. RMT helps individuals
learn to deal with daily stressors that can lead to feeling overwhelmed.
The practice evolved from studying the role of movements, including
reflexes, that babies naturally make from in utero through walking.
Kerstin Linde, the originator, and Dr. Harald Blomberg, the developer,
modified these natural movements into exercises that provide an
effective means of simultaneously stimulating tactile (touch),
vestibular (balance and gravity) and proprioceptive (inner awareness
of body) senses. This integration supports a strong flow of nerve
impulses through the brainstem, limbic system and the frontal
lobes -
three significant areas of brain activity.

Who can benefit from taking the courses?
These workshops are ideal for those in the fields of education,
occupational and physical therapy, kinesiology, psychiatry and
clinical psychology as well as parents and caregivers of children
or adults with special needs or others interested in their own
self-growth. The material taught in the course does not require
previous knowledge of early development or movement training while
still providing great learning for those with a depth of knowledge
and experience.
